Four years ago, I had $2,000 to my name. I was 21 making $45k a year doing remote sales, splitting rent with my girlfriend in Austin.

I was slowly losing hope trying to make it as a musician, coming home at 3am after shows while my friends were going out on Saturday night. Nothing I was doing was hitting and I knew I needed to change something.

In 2022, I made a decision that changed my life. I went all in on crypto. January 7, 2022 I posted my first YouTube video. Two weeks later I had 25,000 subscribers and I quit my sales job.

By the end of February, I was a millionaire at 21 years old. Every trade was documented publicly on the way up. I moved to Miami. I took my family on vacations all over the world. I paid off my dad's house.

Is this gambling?

Prediction markets are federally regulated financial instruments, not casino games. Platforms like Kalshi are registered as Designated Contract Markets and overseen by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the same federal agency that regulates futures and derivatives markets. You're not placing bets against a house that's designed to beat you. You're trading event contracts against other traders on a regulated exchange, with prices set by supply and demand. The distinction matters because in traditional gambling, sportsbooks, casinos, online betting, the house always has a mathematical edge built into every bet. You're structurally guaranteed to lose over time. On a prediction market exchange, there is no house. The prices are set by other participants, which means the prices can be wrong, and if you can identify when they're wrong, you can trade with a consistent mathematical edge in your favor.

Is this legal in the US?

Yes. Kalshi is CFTC-regulated and available in all 50 states. Inside Asymmetric we walk you through how to set up your account and fund it legally, start to finish.

Do I need a lot of money to start?

No. There is no "requirement." $25 to $50 is plenty for your first month. Most members start there. The point isn't the dollar amount, it's having real skin in the game so the lessons land. You'll learn the same skills with $50 that you'd learn with $5,000.

Do I need any trading experience?

No. Many members have no trading background. We have onboarding channels, a setup walkthrough with a real human on our team, and beginner-focused live streams. If you've never opened a brokerage account before, you're still fine.
